The doctor recommends it. The patient buys it from you.
A "My Protocols" tool inside your ECP account area. Practices build product routines from your catalog, hand them to patients by print, link or QR code, and patients check out on dryeyeshop.com in one step. Everything lives in your Shopify store. No patient data, ever.
Scleral lens starter routine
Recommended by Lakeside Eye Care
Example protocol with made-up products and practice name. Try unticking an item on the right. This is the loop we are building: the practice's name on the page, the doctor's note on every line, out-of-stock items shown but skipped, and every order tagged to the practice that sent it.
Patients leave with a scribbled note. You lose the sale.
Here is how we understood it on Monday. If anything is off, tell us and we will correct it before a single screen is built.
Your practices already exist as B2B companies. Any account in a practice can create and edit its protocols. No extra roles or approval steps, and one practice never sees another's lists.
The link works for anyone, no login. They see the doctor's notes, everything pre-ticked, and can untick before adding to cart. No patient discounts and no practice commissions.
It sits under your existing ECP menu as "My Protocols". The doctor pulls one up, then prints it, copies the link or shows the QR on screen, in seconds.
With around 300 products, doctors don't know everything you carry. Browsing by category, starting from your templates, and a step-by-step builder all help them discover options they would otherwise miss.
Everything a practice needs, inside your store.
Built with Shopify's own customer account tools, so it looks and feels like the rest of dryeyeshop.com and keeps working through theme updates.

How it behaves in the cases that matter.
These become the acceptance tests. Each one is checked on a test copy of your store before anything goes live.
| When this happens | What the system does |
|---|---|
| A doctor at Practice A opens My Protocols | Sees Practice A's protocols only. Practice B's lists are never sent to their browser, not just hidden. |
| A second doctor joins Practice A | Sees and can edit all of Practice A's protocols straight away. |
| A patient opens the link or QR | Protocol page loads as a guest. Nothing about the patient is asked for or stored. |
| A product goes out of stock | Still listed, marked unavailable, skipped by "Add to cart". Back in stock, it is ticked again. |
| A product is removed from your store | Hidden from the patient page and flagged to the practice to swap. |
| A patient checks out | Order tagged with the practice. Your normal checkout, prices and shipping apply. |
Two ways to build it. You choose.
On the call you described a guided, step-by-step builder. It is a great idea and it adds real work, so here it is as a clear choice. Pick one to see its milestones and timeline below.
Doctor Protocols, Option B
Confirm on a test store, then the patient page
We prove the practice-level privacy works on a copy of your store and send you a short written report. You test it before anything else is funded. Then the guest patient page with notes, pre-ticked items and "Add to cart".
My Protocols and the guided builder
The practice's My Protocols page: create, edit, notes, reorder, name-only search by category, starter protocols, link, QR code and printable handout. Plus the step-by-step builder, recently used suggestions and one-tap swap.
Order tagging, testing and launch
Practice tagging on orders, every rule in the table above tested, go-live, a written guide for your team and a video walkthrough of managing starter protocols.
Priced when you want them: a sales-by-practice report screen, page view tracking, a phone "share" button, and a custom admin screen for starter protocols if Shopify's editor ever feels clunky. Leaving these out is what keeps the launch fast.
Doctors will ask for changes. We'll be there for them.
You said you expect practices to come back with ideas once they start using it. Here is how we look after the tool once it is live, starting with 45 days on us.
Bug fixes, small tweaks from doctor feedback and help for your team, all included. Near the end, you choose a plan below, switch to pay-as-you-go, or stop. No commitment.

What it costs to run
- Protocols are stored in your Shopify store, not in a separate database. If you ever stop using the tool, the data is still yours.
- One small security check runs outside Shopify. It confirms which practice a doctor belongs to before showing any protocols. It holds no data of its own.
- It runs on a free hosting tier at your volume, set up in your name. If use ever outgrew it, the paid tier is about $5 a month, and we would tell you first.
- No new Shopify apps to subscribe to and no change to your plan. It is a private app built only for your store.
What we need from you
- 1Collaborator access to your Shopify store, so we can set up the test copy.
- 2Your store on the new customer accounts. The My Protocols page needs them. We will check this with you in week 1 and switch it over on the test store first.
- 3Your category list and, if you choose Option B, a short note on the builder flow for Dry eye and Scleral lens.
- 4Two or three starter protocols from your team, so we test with real routines.
- 5One practice account to test with, and a quick sign-off after each milestone.
One person, accountable from start to launch.
You deal with Abu directly, the same person you spoke with on Monday. Every update, demo and sign-off comes through him, backed by our Shopify team.
Let's get the first protocol into a patient's hands.
You mentioned travel coming up. Here is the shortest path from this page to a working build, and none of it needs you at a desk for long.
Reply with your choice. We send the Upwork offer the same day.
Add us as a collaborator. We build on a test copy, never your live store.
Written report plus the patient page to try before M2 is funded.

Prices assume the scope on this page and a catalog of around 300 products. If week 1 on the test store shows something we did not expect, we tell you in writing before M2 starts and you decide how to proceed. Anything outside this page is quoted as a change request before any work begins.
